Couples Counselling:

Informed by the Gottman Method, VOX Mental Health is a place where you and your partner can begin to explore some of the perpetual and gridlock issues that keep you from being able to hear each other and develop genuine intimacy. We are equipped to help you develop skills and tools that will strengthen your relationship as you navigate communication, friendship, fidelity and intimacy.

Laura Fess has over a decade of experience working with youth, families and couples as they navigate various life experiences. She is an attachment and trauma-informed therapist with an advanced diploma in Child and Youth Work, as well as both an Undergraduate and Masters degree in Social Work (RSW). She has been trained in many modalities including: the Gottman Method, CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and SFBT.

As a social worker, Laura sees individuals, couples and families as a holistic system; one that includes history, family, experiences, location and cultural expressions. Her goal is to work with both the micro and macro elements of each system, utilizing evidence-based interventions to support clients as they process the roots of their needs as well as develop skills and tools to navigate various symptoms.

Laura is kind, bubbly, compassionate and committed to creating a judgement free environment where individuals, couples and families can safely explore how they experience the world, and the ways in which they want that to change. Laura is also a digital native and is proficient with the HIPPA compliant Jane App for virtual therapy sessions, and welcomes both in-person (Covid policy compliant) as well as virtual bookings.

Stephanie is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and achieved her Master of Social Work in 2013. Stephanie has been working in the Social Work field for over 10 years with people from various backgrounds.

Stephanie provides a focus on mental health and addictions work with clients and utilizes various practice modalities some of which include, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and a mindfulness/body awareness approach.

Stephanie has been fortunate enough to find her passion working with and helping others. She truly believes that change is possible, and the first step is overcoming apprehensions and making the call for support. Stephanie believes that through using various practice modalities along with working at the client’s pace, that true change and growth are possible, and those learned skills can be carried forward long-term to evoke positive change and self-discovery. Stephanie works to create a safe space that is non-judgemental, empathetic and where clients are free to discuss their specific goals and tell their story.

Theresa Miceli is a Registered Social Worker with experience in the fields of substance use and addiction, eating disorders and body image, and gender-based violence. Theresa obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from Carleton University in 2019, and her Master of Social Work with a specialization in Social Justice and Diversity from University of Toronto in 2020.

Theresa practices counselling through a strength-based and trauma-informed lens. She believes her clients already have the capacity and skills to work through their challenges and that often, all we need is someone to guide us through that process. Theresa’s approach allows the client the opportunity to be the expert of their own experience and be in control of their counselling process. Theresa views everyone’s presenting challenges through the scope of their environment, development, and life experiences as opposed to an individual fault or flaw. Taran Scheel is a compassionate Registered Social Worker bringing over a decade of expertise to our team at VOX. Holding both a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work from the esteemed University of Toronto, Taran has a wealth of experience in the mental health field.

Throughout her career, Taran has been dedicated to assisting children, youth, families, and adults, who are facing a spectrum of challenges including mood disorders, anxiety and depression, behavioural challenges and parenting difficulties, substance abuse and suicidal ideation.

Taran blends the evidence-based methods of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), with complimentary interventions such as Motivational Interviewing (MI). Jonathan Settembri is a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist who has a comprehensive academic background in Human Rights and Equity Studies, Refugee and Migration Studies, and a Master of Social Work with specialized research in generational trauma. Jessica is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who has worked with children (8+), adolescents and adults across Ontario. Her approach is relational, person-centred and theoretically eclectic; drawing on a variety of evidence-based approaches. At the heart of her practice is relational therapy, but she also draws on narrative therapy, strength-based therapy, solution-oriented therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).

She approaches her clients with a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive perspective, and strives to create a non-judgmental environment. Michelle Williams is a strengths based and attachment informed therapist with a BA in Psychology from York University as well as a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from The University of Waterloo (RSW). Michelle is trained in relational and narrative modalities and considers systems theory, person-in-environment, as well as motivational interviewing while supporting clients.

After experiencing her own bereavement and working in hospice, Michelle went on to co-author a grief literacy training program (Being Here Human) that has been attended by over 1,000 participants in the last 4 years. In addition, Michelle is considered to be one of a handful of BIPOC Grief Experts in Canada, and is uniquely equipped to provide a safe environment for those processing a history of colonization, intergenerational grief, as well as the experiences of loss impacted by marginalization and intersections of identity. She also has a keen interest in supporting the experiences of menopause and post-menopause, and creating a space that is positive and validating to those in that phase of life.

Michelle is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where couples, families and individuals can safely begin to process their histories, grief, family dynamics, as well as any intrusive symptoms that have created a barrier to their experience of wellness.
